Coffee at the beach yesterday

Welcome to the first coffee share a la vacation mode! How are you doing? Can I get you a cup of coffee? Or tea? There’s hot coffee and ice-coffee, your choice.

I’ve had a fabulous week. Nothing to complain about what so ever. We’ve had some warm days and some cool days. I’ve been riding my bike around 43.4miles/70km, I’ve been swimming in Lake Siljan and hanging out at my favourite beach there, I’ve read three long books, spent many hours in my garden and a little bit of everything I love to do :)

The garden is amazing right now.

It’s like someone used a magic wand, without my knowledge :)

Yesterday I dug a small “trench” around my plum tree and planted Chinese Chive around the tree. This chive is tall and has white flowers, the scent deters pests and that is the main reason why I planted it around the plum tree.

Looking forward to seeing the Chinese Chive grow. I planted regular chive around my rose bushes at the same time. I have spent a lot of time in the garden this week. It’s been both hard work, and relaxation. I’ve cleaned the garden shed and built a DIY drying rack for my harvest among many other things. I’ll make a separate post about the drying rack.

Yesterday we did something completely different. My daughter and I took a bus to our favourite beach in the morning. We stayed there all day and took the bus home in the evening. It is about one hour from our home, the perfect day-trip.

We typically visit this beach many times every summer, if the weather is good it can be once a week, or more.

We like the variety of this place: the sandy beach, the 628 m long pier, the picnic area, closeness to town/restaurants/ice-cream/bus station.

It is fun to get ice-cream and enjoy it on the pier, something we do almost every time :)

It is also very nice to have this grass area with shade under the trees when the sun gets too hot.

We also enjoy watching the boats on the lake. Last time we visited we had my daughter’s grandfather with us, and yesterday we spent time talking about how fun it was to show him around.

What have you been up to this week? Please have a refill on your beverage and tell me about your week!

Maria

  1. Wow, I’d love to have a long boat ride around that big, beautiful lake, Maria! How wonderful that you can simply hop on a bus and go to this beautiful place. I’m not biking sadly, thanks to the summer heat but busy with whatever I can find to do! Have a great new week, be safe. 🙏🏻❤️😊

    1. We are actually thinking about either kayaking, or renting a paddle boat here some time this summer.

Perhaps if you get some cool days you can go ride your bike. Have a wonderful week.

      1. Have fun, that sounds great! It would have to drop into the 80s before I’ll ride, Maria.

  2. Full-on vacation mode, I love it! Time at the lake sounds idyllic– sunbathe, swim, read, eat ice cream– what more does one need? :)
We’re in-between hot spells, enjoying the cooler temps. (Tues hits 90º again) Pulled my peas the other day after a good run of a few quarts, now awaiting the next round of zucchini and beans. The mystery self-sown monster plant has been identified as a pumpkin! 👍🏼

    1. Summer is here, that is for sure!

Yaay to pumpkins! I have two plants, but they are not as big as they could have been this time of the year. Still hoping for some though. I have not enjoyed my first squash yet, but I believe I will this week. We might hit 90 on Wednesday and Thursday, but hopefully it will stay slightly under that.
