I’ve already harvested some herbs and some onions (red and yellow), and it is almost time to harvest garlic. Previous years I’ve hung the garlic on compost grid that I’ve placed between chairs in my garden shed. I’ve been thinking about if I could find a smarter solution, since it takes up so much space and I also need space for other things.

Hanging things from the roof seem like the best option. Yesterday I used materials that I had on hand and tied three of my compost grids together and hung them from the roof. The compost grids are large and this DIY Vegetable Drying Rack will fit lots of produce. I can’t wait to start filling it up with the good stuff. This leaves plenty of room in the shed for curing pumpkins (that needs lots of space due to size,) and storing my gardening tools.
I would love to start drying some berries. I don’t have much experience with this. I’ve been thinking about purchasing a dehydrator, but I know it is possible to air dry berries as well, I’d like to try that. Do you have any experience of drying berries? Please share if you do! I have so much berries that I need to preserve, and I do not want to make jam and lemonade of everything, and I have limited space in my freezer.
What are you grateful for today?
