Garlic scapes

Today I’m grateful for today’s harvest.

Strawberries

It might not seem like much, but to me it is. Garlic scapes are so delicious, and harvesting them now equals bigger garlics when it is time to harvest them in a few weeks. Strawberries are always delicious. These ones are from the allotment garden. I planted earlier strawberries at my balcony garden and later strawberries at the allotment. In the two gardens combined I harvest at least this amount of strawberries every day for the past month, often more. I am very grateful.

What are you grateful for today?

  1. Both look amazing, Maria! Our wild strawberries are done but yielded a LOT this year. I’ve seen garlic scapes, do you cook them like garlic?

    1. Thank you! That is wonderful that you had a lot of wild strawberries this year. You can use garlic scapes like you would use garlic. They have a slightly milder taste. I think that I am going to make a pesto of them, to enjoy with pasta.

  4. It’s been a few years since I had strawberries in my garden, but I do remember well how special it is to be able to pick right there outside one’s door. My mouth is watering looking at your sample!

  5. Wow, the strawberries! Mmmm. 😋 I thought the garlic things was a cluster of twisted up wires. 😂🤭 I’m grateful for the chiropractic adjustment and a good report from the cardiologist’ office today. 👍🏻😎

  6. A great harvest! This morning – for it is Thursday morning here – I am going to prepare to count all my blessings and remember those who have past as we approach Matariki or the Maori new year here in Aotearoa.

  7. I’m envious of your strawberry harvests for a whole month! The critters would eat any I tried to plant I fear. I made garlic scape hummus this morning from mine. They last so well in the fridge.
Grateful for a beautiful day after 2″ of rain yesterday (woohoo!)… made for easy weeding today!

    1. I’d be so happy to share with you my friend. I have most of my strawberries at the allotment caged in, because I had problems with critters eating them last year. This year I get to keep the majority of berries for my human family.

Garlic scape hummus sounds delicious! I think I am going to make pesto with mine.

      Enjoy the weeding!
