Study time before work

Welcome to the weekend coffee share, can I get you a cup of coffee? Or perhaps some tea? How are you?

It’s been a great week here. My children are doing great, I feel good and have lots of energy, work is good, school is good. I’ve started my days around 5am every day to get some study time in before work. I am a morning person and getting up early is not difficult, I usually wake up a few minutes before my alarm clock. (If someone asked me to study at night that would on the other hand be almost impossible!)

Is it winter in your corner of the world? We’ve had temperatures in the upper 20’s-lower 30’s most of the week. Some warm days unfortunately melted most of the snow we had. It is actually snowing right now, and I hope it will stay cold so that we get to keep the snow. I took my bike to the bike shop yesterday, to get winter tires. I was planning on doing it a month ago, but the mild weather made me wait a bit.

Lake Runn

After leaving my bike at the bike shop I took a long walk along Lake Runn. It was windy, but very beautiful.

It is the first of Advent today, which is a big thing in Sweden. It is the official day when we decorate for Christmas, so that is what my daughter and I are doing today. How is your week?

  1. Good morning, Maria. A run sounds wonderful, but I woke up to a lot of snow in the air and on the ground. It makes a nice atmosphere for setting up Christmas decorations, which we are hoping to do later today as well.

    Happy Sunday.

    1. Happy Sunday! It is our lake that is named Runn, I only walked along the shores :) . Lake Runn is the largest lake in the area.

A snowy day is indeed the perfect setting for Christmas decorations. Have fun!

      1. Well, I’m laughing at myself for my misread. I guess I needed to have more coffee before I popped in. Haha.

  3. That is a beautiful lake and an interesting name! Lake Runn – does Runn have a different meaning in Swedish? Just curious as we think of running. Haha!
I’m turning into a morning person as I’ve gotten up early at 6:30am during the week to tend to Murphy before the trainer arrives at the barn. I too wake up before my alarm. I can see how useful it is to get things done before the day starts. It’s invigorating!! 🤩

We have put up a minimal amount of Christmas decorations this weekend and it’s just enough for this year. Thank you for the coffee and I hope you have a wonderful week! 😍❤️

    1. The meaning of the name “Runn” is most likely from the old Nordic language, where it means “secret” or something like “secret knowledge”. It does not have a meaning in our modern Swedish language.

How wonderful to get some time with Murphy first thing in the morning. I am sure he appreciate that!

We did a little bit of decorating yesterday, and will finish later today. You would consider our decorations minimal as well :) Our whole apartment is minimalistic.

      Have a wonderful new week!

  4. Like John, I’m not getting your posts, Maria! I was pleased to read about your celebration of the first day of Advent, which we just did at our church this morning! Your temps and weather sure sound like ours! Sunny today! A beautiful image of the lake and also, like you , some Christmas decor is going up this weekend. Thanks for the coffee!

    1. Thank you! It snowed all day yesterday, everything was white. In the evening it started to rain and all the snow is once again gone. I hope it returns soon. (There is some snow in the forecast).

I did make some changes to my WP account, getting a paid site a few months ago, maybe that caused some problems?

      Have a wonderful new week!

  5. Lovely sunlight on the lake. 🤩 Glad to hear things are going well. Happy Advent!
Thanksgiving was a happy event at my niece’s house this past Thurs. Now, our weather is turning colder and 7″ snow is predicted on Tues.
I decorated yesterday as the weather was better, mostly outdoor baskets and hangings. A string of lights on the porch. This coming weekend we will get our tree. Twinkly lights are so pretty at Christmas! Have a great week!

    1. Thank you! Seeing the sun was an unexpected delight!

So happy to hear your Thanksgiving with family was a happy event! Ms H and I had a small celebration by ourselves, it was also nice. She was happy.

I’d love to see your hanging baskets! Have a wonderful week!

  6. What a gorgeous lake shot!

I used to be a morning person, too. Up before everyone else and studying before work, just like you. That’s all changed since COVID hit. I’m learning to embrace sleeping a bit later and taking my mornings a bit slower :-)

I hope all your decorating went wonderfully and that you have a great week ahead!

    1. Thank you Melissa!

It is a good thing that you are listening to your body. I try to do the same when my body tells me to slow down.

      Have a great week ahead!

  7. It appears Mother Nature finally turned the corner because winter hit today. The temperature is now near yours and the first snow happened today, as I was driving home from my road trip. It wasn’t too bad, though, but it’s certainly a change from the usual.

  9. We have finally had some snow, and it’s sticking for the moment – it’s how winter should look! The river is freezing over at the edges.
Hope you get more snow soon…
We’ll put some winter decorations up in the next week or two – our apartment is small, so minimal works best!
