Can I get you a cup of coffee? Or tea? I can’t believe it’s already November! What’s the weather like where you live? We have frost every night, but no snow yet. I spent some time in Stockholm this week, Stockholm is about 2,5 hours South-East of where I live. The weather in Stockholm this week was very similar, with cold nights and sunny days.

As usual I took the train there. It was the first train of the day, departing around 5.30. I took this photo of the first light outside the window. The reflection of some seats made the photo rather interesting, I think. I love taking the train to Stockholm, especially when it is light enough to enjoy the landscape. There’s so many deep forest areas (mostly pine forest,) many lakes, and some small towns. Traveling by train is a great way to enjoy a beautiful scenery, in my humble opinion.

The white house to the right in the photo is Stockholm Central Station. A hub for trains, the metro, and buses.

My main reason for traveling was to attend some lectures at Stockholm University. In a previous post I wrote about trying to get to know different parts of the city each time I visit. This time I tried a hotel within walking distance to the University. I walked back and forth many times, almost feeling like a local.

Like most cities in Sweden our capital city have great walking/biking paths everywhere. A general rule is that the smooth side of the lane is for bikes, and the side with more texture is the walkway. They are often right next to each other, and separated from the cars. Sometimes it is right next to the car lanes, but when possible completely separated from the car lanes.

A sign showing that it is a shared walking/biking lane, and that walking is on the left side, and biking on the right side.

On Friday (yesterday), that was my last day in Stockholm, I walked all the way from the University to the Central Station (in the first photo), about 3.1 miles/5km. The sun was shining and it was a marvelous walk through Stockholm. I saw many beautiful houses, and green areas. I also made mental notes of places that I want to explore further in the spring.

Stockholm itself is built on 14 islands that are connected by 57 bridges. The famous Stockholm archipelago comprises over 30,000 islands, islets, and skerries.

The last photo I took before getting on the train that took me home last night. I hope you enjoyed this little mini-visit to Stockholm. Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share this week, and sharing some gorgeous fall colours with us. I’d love to hear more about your week! Help yourself to a refill of your beverage, and tell me all about it.
