Today I’m grateful for time spent in nature this weekend.

Yesterday morning I went for a long walk by myself (around 5miles/8km), while my daughter was still sound asleep. When my daughter wanted to go hiking with me in the afternoon I wasn’t in the mood at all. However, I was more than happy that she initiated going outside, so I said yes.

We packed a light picknick and started walking. It was muggy and lots of insects. My daughter did not seen to mind at all.

Our conversation was at times mostly a monologue from her side, about her friends and what’s going on in her life. We talk a lot every day, but I do feel that it is very special when she initiates conversations and time together. I am very grateful that she does.

Yesterday we also spent time looking at plants and trees, noticing the variety, and talked about biodiversity. I love that she shows an ever increasing passion about nature and everything in it. It is currently not even 5am Monday morning, but it feels good to start the new work week with an intense feeling of gratitude.

What are you grateful for today?
