In a way Friday felt like the last vacation day, since it is the weekend now and I have to start thinking about getting ready for work. It was such a wonderful day and I lingered in the garden for hours soaking it all in.
Awe, I hope your kale is giving you a great harvest. The dinosaur kale is a favourite of mine, one plant gives so much produce, and when I pick the bottom leaves it keeps growing new ones. It is almsot like a forever plant…if the snails don’t get to it.
This year will be my first time growing dino kale in a few years. I find the leaves a little tough for my liking but perhaps I was doing something wrong?
I don’t have to worry about snails here, it’s aphids in the spring I will have to worry about.
The tender, young leaves are great in salads as they are. I always cook the bigger leaves, either frying them or blanching them. If you leave them out until after the first frost the largest leaves will get sweeter and less tough.
What’s on your mind today?
