Today I am grateful for reading during the summer. At this point of my life it is a lot different, compared to reading the rest of the year. I love reading. I try to keep up with the latest research in my line of work, and I am also a part time student, but during the summer I read only for my own pleasure. Yesterday I picked up a 700 page novel at the library. It is a family saga that take place in India, in the early 1900’s. The book was recommended to me by one of my friends. I usually like the books she recommends. Expactations are high! Do you like to read for fun? Are you reading something right now?

  1. There is always a book or two next to my bed. :) I do not enjoy non-fiction as much as fiction as I like a good story and good writers. We’re lucky to have a good library system (grateful for that!). Reading settles me, I escape to another world. :) I’m grateful for your book recommendations!

    1. Good stories and good writers makes the world a better place :) I’ve been a regular customer at the local library (wherever in the world local is at the moment) since I was 5 years old. Libraries is a precious gift. Escaping to another world in a book is a pleasure I wish everybody in the world would be able to enjoy. It is a fear of mine that many children that grows up with “quick fixes” on a screen miss out on the true joy of a good book. I do everything I can in order to prevent that from happening with the children I teach.

  2. I am reading your post right now and that’s the sum of my reading. I don’t read books because it just hurts my eyes and I don’t have that kind of patience. If it’s something about Ham Radio or Photography that’s different. 😊🤭

I’m grateful for Thursday and the two bad wall sockets being replaced in my home today. I am very fire safety aware, call me paranoid. 😂

    1. It is wise to be aware of fire safety. It is something I am very keen on as well (even one of the reasons I choose to live in a newer house).

  4. I LOVE reading and have books lined up to read. Anything from biographical, fiction and non-fiction. As long as the story grabs me in the beginning I enjoy most everything I read! It’s relaxing and fun for me!! 🤗❤️

    1. Awesome! I agree that it is very important that the story is good right from the beginning.

  5. I read year round, but I am retired and have more free time than you do. Like Eliza, I prefer fiction. However, when I was in my forties and fifties, it was nonfiction for me. Funny how our tastes change.

    1. I do really like fiction, but it makes work more rewarding when I am on-top of new research, and that itself makes me feel good, but I’d say that in a way I too prefer fiction.

  6. The author’s name is familiar, and I’m thinnking I read his novel Cutting for Stone.

I used to read fiction all the time, but somehow online reading captures more of my time these days. I need to pick up books again. I love reading.
