I would love to invite you for a cup of coffee in my garden. The weather is lovely. The sun is shining and the temperature is very comfortable 60F/16C. The whole week have offered very pleasant temperatures. However, the pollen season is at its climax right now, and I try to be out early in the day when I am not working, to minimize my exposure to the dreaded plague (pollen)..I’m telling myself that this too will pass very soon. I am focusing on how beautiful everything is right now. In many ways it’s been a magical week.

I took these photos at my allotment garden this morning (Saturday).

In a couple weeks you’ll notice a big difference. The garden work this week have been mostly weeding and watering, and some planting. I transplanted cold started Ishikura onions, and White Lisbons to one of the garden beds, along with some kohlrabi.

Some of you know that my daughter and I moved to a new apartment last fall. It is a compact living apartment, just the right size for us. (My son moved to his own place at the beginning of 2025.) We re-homed some furniture and other items before moving here, but this week I found a new home for a couple more pieces that didn’t really fit in here. We’ve liked the new apartment right from the start, but after living here for about 8 months we finally feel that we’ve made it our own. We have the right amount of furniture and things, in the right places. It feels great!

I’ve taken many bike rides this week 2-4 daily. I haven’t tracked how many miles exactly, but my best guess would be around 34miles/55km. Some days “I’ve taken the long way home from work..”, other days I’ve been going to my allotment garden.

Thank you Natalie for hosting the weekend coffee share!

How is your week?

Maria

  1. I’m glad you are finally feeling settled and “at home” in your new apartment, Maria. It’s good to hear that you’re enjoying decent weather, as well as time on the bike and in your garden.

I didn’t know you had a son. I hope he is doing well in his new home as well.

  3. Beautiful! Hope the allergies aren’t too bad. Nice that you’ve settled into your new apartment. It can take awhile to figure out what fits and what needs to go.

    1. Thank you! The whole week has been fantastic weather-wise. Ms. H is doing much better. She isn’t sick anymore (it was chicken pox..not fun). She has some allergies, but nothing like mine. All things consider we’re doing great. Thank you for always being so kind.
