It is a wonderful thing to be happy and content with ones place in the world. It lives 60 000 people in my town and surrounding countryside.

Big by Maine standards! Our town has 6,000, and the small city by us is about 16,000.
I personally prefer smaller towns. I spent most of my childhood in a town with 600 people.
