In this Daily Gratitude Practice 2026 I’ve decided to share some of my favourites in the garden. Crops that I love so much that I keep growing them year after year. Crops that I am so grateful for, due to their taste and bounty. One of these is definitely the luxurious Ishikura onion. It is a delicious Japanese bunching onion. It has a mild taste, and they are frost hardy. They are easy to grow in containers, garden beds, and directly in the ground. You can eat everything on the plant and if your harvest is abundant (it usually is,) chop the onions into small pieces and store them in your freezer. They last up to a year in the freezer (until next years harvest). Have you tried growing Ishikura onions? If so, what’s your thoughts about them?
