Welcome to the very first weekend coffee share 2026! Can I get you a hot brew? Coffee? Tea? Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share!
Last weekend we were hit by a crazy storm that they named “Johannes”. It plagued a large part of Sweden. Trees, electricity lines, flag poles, and roofs were flying through the air. There was a public “WMA” – an urgent public alert for dangerous situations, advising people to stay at home. We did. (We spent time in the couch reading, writing, crocheting, and there might have been some Netflix as well.) Thousands lost power, (we did not lose power at any time.) People were killed during and after the storm, crushed under trees. When the storm calmed down mid-day Monday I walked to the store. I saw several trees on the ground and debris everywhere. This was before it started to snow.
On New Years Eve it started to snow. It still snows. A lot. Our region is used to snow, and even though it is a lot, it is manageable and still fun. 1,5 hour East of here it is not so much fun. That area got hit worse than us during “Johannes”, and now they are getting hit really bad by this snow storm they named “Anna”. Many people there do not have power back yet. I feel bad for the people without power, and others affected by the severe weather. Growing up in the mountains we often lost power during winter storms, sometimes for many days in a row, that is not something I miss. Our family is safe, in a warm, cozy home, with food and water. We have everything we need, even the stores are open. We’ll see how much snow we get, but so far it is mainly fun in our region. The kids are happy!
How are you doing? How was New Years? We ate good food, talked about the year that passed and the new year to come, and watched the fireworks from our balcony. I am trying a gratitude practice 2026, sharing one photo a day of something that I am grateful for. Sometimes it is going to be only a photo, and sometimes I’ll write something about gratitude, related to the photo. The goal is for it to be a daily practice, (but I am going to be kind to myself, if I happen to miss a day here and there.) Would you like to join me in this Daily Gratitude Practice 2026? Let’s tag our posts #DailyGratitudePractice2026.
