How about a warm beverage this beautiful October day? There’s strong coffee, and a large variety of teas to choose from, what is your preference? I’ve had several cups of both coffee and tea today. I’m a little under the weather and a hot drink does wonders. I’ve been working as usual the first half of the week and attending school online on Thursday and Friday. I woke up with a light fever on Thursday and was very happy that I only had a zoom meeting that day. I’ve been resting a lot during my free-time this week, I really needed it. The weather makes me want to go to the garden (I have so much I need to do there,) but I am trying to be responsible and take care of myself, despite the rays of sun tempting me outside my window.

While taking it easy I’ve been trying to envision what I want on the walls of my new apartment. I looked through a couple memory cards that I found and ordered four larger prints for my kitchen wall. It’s me and the kids, a very special dog is in one of the photos, and one of my favourite horses is in another of the photos. I’ve already hung a recent photo of my children in my bedroom, and one of my dad in another room. The new place is starting to really feel like our home. I still have one wall that is very empty, the one behind the couch (in the photo above). Eventually I would like 1-2 larger paintings on that wall, painting that I do not have at the moment. I am in no rush….if anyone was wondering, my daughter LOVES colour and asked me to consider that in our new home. I have considered that in all the common areas, they showcase her favourite colours. I am a minimalist at heart and my room is a neutral white (walls, lamp, bed, night stand, picture frames etc).

I also spent some time organising my books this week. Books are important. I mostly borrow books at the library, all the books that I do own are important to me. Not the most exciting week but a pretty good one, all things consider. What are you up to this week? Thank you Natalie for hosting the weekend coffee share.

  1. Sorry to hear you are fighting a bug, hopefully, your self-care will get you over the hump quickly.
Have you had a frost yet? We had our first on Thurs., so the garden is done. I’ve been slowly removing the mushy annuals, but there is no rush, I can take my time. I do need to rake and shred leaves for use next spring, seems I never have enough of those as I only use maple, oak is too acidic. We’re about past peak for foliage and there’s quite a few disappointed leaf-peepers out there, I imagine. The drought didn’t help, but we’re expecting rain in the next two days, which will help a bit and bring down a lot of leaves!

    1. Thank you!

The first frost has yet to make its appearance in my garden, but there’s been frost in some parts of town, many microclimates due to the variation of vegetation around. Looks like the first frost is at least a couple weeks away, if my weather app is right. I hope that is true, I have so much to do in the garden. I’ve harvested all the sensitive crops, but I really should be cleaning up some. It is like a jungle now. I hope you are enjoying some calmer days.

  2. Hoping you feel better soon. My relatives in Europe drink lots of ginger, lemon and honey tea. It takes a bit of effort but well worth it.

    1. Thank you! Check on that one! I drink that almost daily :) I think that is why I stayed healthy this long, almost everyone at work had some kind of bug since starting the new school year in August, but this is the first time I feel a little under the weather. Working with young children it is impossible to not catch a cold or some other bug every once in a while, I am grateful I manage to avoid most of the bugs going around.

  3. I’m so glad you’re settling in nicely and starting to personalize your spaces. It really does make a world of difference after a move. I *love the greens in your living room! Such vibrant hues of my favorite color :-) I do hope your rest and hot beverages this weekend leave you feeling rested, healed, and ready for the upcoming week!

  5. I hope you’re feeling better. I agree, hot drinks do wonders when one is under the weather. Hearing about you decorating your walls makes me think about decorating my walls. I’ve never thought about what I want to put on the walls but I do have visions.

    1. Thank you! I feel a little better today, hoping to be able to work tomorrow. Would you like to share your vision for your walls? I do not want to have too much on mine, but still some things, to make it personal.

      1. I’m glad to hear that.
Well, since I live in a place that has earthquakes, I like to keep the things on my walls light and unbreakable. I’ve always been leaning toward hanging some canvas with my photos on my walls but the cost of printing on canvas has gone way up since the pandemic.

        1. Perhaps it is possible to find a doable canvas solution. Your photos would look amazing on canvas.

  8. Hot drinks and a good book or two sounds good – hope you’re feeling better!
We had a few flakes of snow overnight, nothing heavy. Temperatures have see-sawed all week, mostly on the warm side – freezing today and tomorrow, then high teens centigrade next week!

  9. Your daughter loves colour. What are her favourites? A home without colour is like cookies without sugar. I get the minimalist theme but ….

hopefully you are feeling better now and the weather holds so you can get back in your garden.

    1. She does love colour! Green is one of her favourite colours at the moment, but it vary over time. Green has always been there, but she also loves yellow and purple. We are getting her an aloe vera plant today from a nearby nursery, with a matching yellow pot (if they have one). She wants different colours in different rooms, which I think is a great idea. I do like our green living room, it is a happy room.
