Welcome to the weekend coffee share! This is a brand new blog, but it is very possible that you and I already know each other from one of my previous blog. I have missed several of you tremendously during my blogging break, and I’m in the process of catching up with my favourite blogs.

So what’s new? I’m on vacation, a lovely staycation in my part of the world, Dalarna, Sweden. This is the first of four weeks of freedom. Up until now the weather’s been cold and the garden is a little behind, compared to last year. The warmer weather is here now and we’re enjoying a comfortable sunny and 75F/24C.

I’ve made a new entrance to my garden, and planted heirloom roses on both sides. They are climbing roses and will eventually reach over the opening.

They are very small at the moment, but I couldn’t resist the colour. I believe they are worth waiting for. I envision walking in to the garden passing the entrance completely covered in roses at some point in the future.

A typical vacation day is spent in the garden from mornings-noon(ish), and the rest of the days are spent with my daughter and/or a good book, perhaps in combination with an outing to a lake = exactly my cup of tea :)

Thank you Natalie for hosting the weekend coffee share! What is going on in your corner of the world?

Maria

  1. Your day sounds like mine, gardening in the morning for a couple hours and resting with a book or blogs in the afternoon. It has been very hot and humid lately, which the garden is loving, but me not so much!

    1. All the good things in life, – humidity. My garden is just taking off now since it’s been so cold this year. Crops like cucumbers and tomatoes are way behind their usual schedule. My sweet potatoes also look very sad, due to luck of warm weather. It is warm now and lookalike it is going to stay warm, perhaps it’s not too late?

    1. Thank you so much! I saw the roses at an online garden center in January and they were speaking to me :)

  3. The arch entrance to your garden will look pretty with the roses and peeping through your garden looks a mass of green.

    1. Thank you so much! It is very green right now. We had a lot of rain April-June and now it is warm= everything is exploding (pollen as well..)

      1. I’m envious :) It isn’t too bad today, 85F and high but not super high humidity, but we have had almost a dozen 90+ days already this summer – when I moved to NH we might have 5 the entire summer, sometimes 0.

        1. The climate is interesting nowadays. The very most northern parts of Sweden have the highest temperatures in the whole country at the moment, and that is the opposite of normal.
