My allotment garden – perennials

Today I spent some time making a map of my allotment garden. I placed all the perennials in their places, and now I can easily see the spaces available (the empty squares are empty garden beds) for annuals. Annuals are plants that only live for a year. In colder climates many plants are grown as annuals. I also planned when I have to start each annual on the long list of vegetables and flowers that I am planning on growing this year. I have a garden journal that I’ve had for several years. I take monthly notes on what I do at the allotment, successes and failures. It’s been a very fun day and I feel grateful.

  1. Wow, I’m very impressed. I tried to map my garden but it’s proven harder than it seems.

    1. I forget so many things if I don’t plan. I’m going to print this base and add the annuals every year.

    1. Thank you my friend. I would forget if I didn’t write it down. I’m going to print this map of all the perennials and then add the annuals each year. Five of the garden beds that look empty on this map already have onions (1), garlic (3) and beets (1), that I planted late 2025.
